Since I moved here in 2001, Columbus has become my home. My resumé demonstrates that I work and volunteer where the mission aligns with my values, and my experiences have shaped me as a leader, advocate and community member.
I am passionate about our community. This is where I have learned about raising a family, union organizing, and advocating for civil and migrant worker rights through actively listening, amplifying voices, and leaning into the guidance from elders and youth. I have deepened my connections within Columbus and District 7. These collective experiences have guided my seven years on the Near East Area Commission, including two and a half years as Chair, where we worked tirelessly to improve transparency—such as streamlining our project review process to better serve our community, developers and City Council. These are the values that I would bring to City Council and that shape the equity lens I bring to all my work.
Today, Columbus faces significant challenges: housing affordability, community safety, and quality of life. These issues require innovative solutions informed by diverse perspectives. I have taken the time to learn our city’s past, understand its present, and plan for its future.
If given the opportunity to serve on Columbus City Council, I will be a present, prudent decision-maker who centers equity, collaboration, and progress. Together, we will create opportunities for all residents to thrive—improving health outcomes, advancing education, and ensuring prosperity for everyone.
Let’s work together to build a stronger Columbus.
We have heard the statistics about the projected growth for the Columbus Region reaching over 3 million people by 2050. We have and will continue to learn from our history. I will work hard to ensure that our city is ready.
Zoning will be inclusive. Renting or owning a home will be affordable. Accessory dwelling units (ADU) can help address density and family care needs. As we consider our next phase of zoning code review, the community will be a central part of the conversation.
We will address our disparities in maternal health. We will ensure our babies live. We will ensure pregnant people can get timely prenatal care and postpartum care is not an afterthought.
